The Percy Arms, Chatton

You don’t need to go looking for a good night out when you’re staying at The Old Post Office, it’s two minutes down the road. The Percy Arms is Chatton’s village local, the sort of pub built for exactly this: a pint after a day on the moors, a proper meal without needing the car, and a fire worth sitting by once the evening cools off. It’s unpretentious in the best way, muddy boots and wet dogs are part of the furniture here, not an inconvenience. Expect a solid, hearty menu alongside the usual line-up of ales, and a genuinely warm welcome from a team who know most of the village by name. It’s less a nightlife destination and more the kind of place an evening naturally drifts towards, which, in a village this size, is exactly the point. There’s rarely a need to book ahead outside peak weekends, but it’s worth calling if you’re a larger group or fancy a table by the fire. Whatever the season, ending the day here, boots off, pint in hand, is about as good a Chatton evening as it gets.
