Spring: Quiet Lanes and New Life
Spring brings longer days and a real sense of the countryside waking up, lambs in the fields around Chatton, wildflowers along the footpaths, and noticeably fewer visitors than the summer months. Winter in Northumberland is dramatic, wide grey skies, wild coastlines, and villages like Chatton at their most atmospheric. It’s not for everyone, but if you want a genuinely cosy escape, this is it: short walks, long evenings by the fire, and maybe a chef-cooked dinner to make the darker nights feel like an occasion rather than something to get through.
So, When Should You Book?
If you want guaranteed sunshine and busy beaches, aim for July and August. If you’d rather have the countryside more to yourselves and don’t mind packing a jumper, spring and autumn are hard to beat. Either way, Chatton makes a brilliant base whatever the season.
